Informationally Deficients, Republicans and other frustrations

Monday, September 14th, 2009

Grrr… Admins or teachers of the schools (of Bellingham School District, WA) that my two kids attend did NOT allow them to hear our President’s speech. What the f#@& is going on!!! I can’t believe this! What is wrong with people! Is it an epidemic of “Republicanitis” or is it just mad cow disease?

The speech was wonderful…the best encourangement for our kids to stay in school, do their best, learn all they can and respect their teachers and principals…

…the replies, the excuses I received from both school principals was pathetic.

First the district office said they were leaving it up to the principals, then I contacted each school my kids attend and the principals said they were leaving the decision to the teachers, plus it would conflict with or not fit with curriculum and one also mentioned some parents had called forbidding their kids be allowed to hear our President.

It has been about week since the speech and I am still livid over this!

Cell Phone Billing Errors - First Cingular Now T-mobile

Monday, August 13th, 2007

It’s happening again! We used to have Cingular and the billing nightmares took their toll on my mind body and time. It was horrible. If you do a search you’ll find this kind of thing hurts so many people causing intense suffering from stress, monetary loss, time loss, family conflict, ruined relationships, to ruined credit reports.
Big Business dumps <-"Big Business"
The cell phone company was in the wrong, but it always took so much of my time and the 1-800 boogie and emails to get it straighened out were difficult on me and my family. But I fought because I cannot allow myself to be cheated. Can’t live with being taken advantage of. It would feel worse than the stress and effort to correct their mistakes (or attempts to get/steal my money) to allow them to do this. But it keeps repeating. It feels at this point that these are not honest mistakes on their part but maybe direct attempts to cheat people out of money. What do you think?

So when the Cingular contract had expired at the end of last year I switched to T-mobile. After 6 months with them, dang-it, the nightmare is starting again. (Place very bad word here). I am beginning to think all big businesses are like this…are they? Are they all slime?

Did you know in the fine print somewhere in your contract that maybe you signed away your right to pursue legal action in a class action suit? Well today I found where some folks have stood up to this amazingly nasty thing. I am posting some URLs to pages where you might be able to find the help you need to fight errors, dishonest and bogus billing charges as well as other issues you might be having with your wireless company.

Good Jobs Bad Jobs Snow Jobs

Monday, May 7th, 2007

So much of living is spent working and many find themselves in a job where they are so unhappy. Do you ever find that driving to work you are leaving later, driving slower and then when your shift is over you can’t wait to get out the door and driving away is at a quicker clip than arriving?

Sometimes the job is just boring or very brutally hard on the bod. And some jobs have you stuck with people who gossip, harrass or bully.

What I think about when stuck like that in a job from heck is that life is short and when you get down to it, this is time that when at or near the end of your lifetime this time will seem so horribly wasted … being at a place and expending time - on what?  A way to sell yourself - your life’s time, so you can pay the rent, buy food and pay off debts?

Makes ya’ think… about what earlier times were like, right? Anyway, what I suggest is to make every effort to nip the bullying and other crud right at it’s beginnings. If you know a fellow worker is being singled out - speak up and stand with the victim. Because this should never be tolerated. When it is going on it hurts people so very much. Also causes production to drop, causes absences, lateness, depression and sometimes workplace violence..which can go into liability- if you’re thinking of this from an employer’s perspective. It’s just a very harsh thing to try to keep going back for more and many will quit a job rather than have to continue face being tortured by a workplace bully.

I hope anyone who finds they are putting down, judging, harrassing being bitchy or any expenditure of this sort of effort that causes hurt will stop and think about what kind of pattern they are getting into. Do you feel threatened when someone comes in and does a better job than you? Do you put them down or criticize to make yourself seem the better worker? Are you a jerk? JUST STOP IT!

Here’s a good website with resources on the topic of bullying: http://www.sangrea.net/bully/links.php

Workers of the world ignite - or is that unite?

Saturday, April 28th, 2007

:(  Today is Worker’s Memorial Day. It is to honor those who have died working. Here is my take on a way of dying on the job without physically dying.
In all the jobs I’ve held in my life so far - about a dozen or so only the last three got me dying by slow soul death. What I have encountered is the workplace bully. Has this gotten worse in the world I wonder? In my scope of experience in the past 13 years I have encounted and suffered from bullying on the job. From having an angry shift boss leaving gun catalogs on the break room table to intimidate, to the present situation of a new supervisor going to extremes to firmly establish his thronedom and maledom.

It just feels like lately I have been forced to work with and for hurtful, dangerous, abusive, “children”.
There’s the one who because he cannot state his dislike of a female on his crew without breaking policy, instead uses “subtle” ways of making his dislike hit me. The eyes avert, pretends not to hear my questions or answers, takes what is said and translates into something negative, jumps to putdowns, balks at praise, raises his voice beyond what is necessary, commands rather than directs… It all seems to be coming up again with this new job as classic bully symptoms in this new supervisor. Maybe I am just sensitized and maybe he won’t get worse? Am I maybe just noticing low grade bullying symptoms that might just not escalte as he settles more into his position of authority?

In the first job experience with a bully, I stayed my ground, but at the cost of severe soul bruising. Can I survive this again? Stay tuned…

Cold Day in August

brrrrrr

My Job Injured my shoulder at work this past spring. Torn rotator cup. It is still bad (impingement) and employers not caring. They follow the “policy” and kept me working even though I had to call in repeatedly because of the pain. These were unpaid days because they said the doc had ok’d me with restrictions. In my job tasks entail repetitive motion and hard physical labor. So I yo-yoed until I cannot take it anymore I resigned my 14.43 an hour/benefits job to escape pain. When I enquired if I could get training for office type work they told me no they do not do this. More than 10 years of honest labor and now I am facing a very cold winter. Anyone wish to hire me? I can do general office duties and know my way around computers somewhat…and your business website… well I could create one for you or facelift and maintain edits for you. Part time is ok and in the Whatcom County, Washington state area best. Thanks brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr….
